What We’re Eating

Gua Bao

Where We Tried Them: Bao by Kaya, NYC

What They Are: Dumpling meets taco. Fluffy steamed buns, loaded to the brim with anything from duck to tofu to pork belly.

Our Favorite: Pork Belly Bao. Braised oven pork belly, scallion, cucumber, radish, crushed peanuts and hoisin sauce. Oh yea.

What We’re Trying

No More Sugar

What The Hell? You read it right, no sugar. It’s been over two weeks of eating foods that have no added sugar — no office goodies for us.

Why The Hell? Pretty simple really: because we figured we wouldn’t last the day. Now we’re on day fifteen (well, one of us is) and there’s no stopping her now. Oh, and saying goodbye to brain fog, carb crashed and a few pounds (during the holiday season - you read that right) is bolstering her resolve.

How The Hell? Start with no sweets for the first 24 hours. After that, start reading the labels of your favorite foods and toss anything that has added sugar (that includes honey). Our new best food friends: low sodium Triscuits, Smuckers Natural Peanut Butter, and any and all veggies.

What We’re Watching

The Kominsky Method

What It’s All About: An aging acting coach (aka failed actor) and his crotchety, super-success agent face their twilight years and hilarity ensues.

Why We Love It: Creator Chuck Lorre that brought us Mom, The Big Band Theory and Young Sheldon is tackling topics about old white men that no one really talks about, out loud (think prostate exam, Viagra and death) and because Alan Arkin makes us laugh out loud. #NoFilter

People Who Love It: Anyone with a dad who’s in his late sixties.
