We’re spring cleaning in summer, and we recommend you do too. t’s incredible the amount of junk that we hold onto throughout our lives. It piles up and lends itself to a “future project” of cleaning and purging that most likely won’t come until the next garage sale or moving day. Why does any of this matter? Well, there’s a science behind this minimalism “trend”.

Because Science Said So, That's Why

Princeton Institute of Neuroscience found that your brain cannot differentiate between unwanted clutter and important objects. The filtering process causes reduced brain function and this sensory overload decreases your productivity.

UCLA researchers found that there is a direct correlation between high cortisol levels and clutter. The more household items, the more stress to be had. Makes sense that every time we open that junk drawer, our blood pressure spikes.

And let’s be honest, you just don’t need all those clothes. According to the chief design officer for California Closets, the average person is only wearing about 20% of their closet.
